Wireless Solar Tracking System Using Arduino (UI Designed on LabVIEW)

The wireless solar tracking system works on the principal of astronomical equations which calculates the coordinates of the sun by calculating the elevation and azimuth angle given the latitude, longitude and time zone of a given place and thus adjusts the position of the solar panels accordingly using very sophisticated servo motors. Apart from tracking it got many other functionalities like manual control, predicting the trajectory of the sun using complex formulas, automatic system run and shutdown depending on the position of the sun. The software for the project was made on LabVIEW 2012 and interfaced though the Arduino UNO Board. This project achieved 36.47% increase in efficiency over a stationery solar panel.

This project can be further modified and made into something more interesting especially if you are in your final year of engineering course and you are looking for a good project idea this could be your innovative project idea in which you make it more interesting by integrating more sensors or maybe add a weather system as well which gives accurate temperature and humidity reading of the outside environment. This will help you to get good recognition among your college peers and possibly good grades as well. The UI on LabVIEW can also be made more innovative since they are really customizable and you have computing power of your computer to carryout complicated calculations and run complex algorithms.
